Judgment and sale

How to check a New York foreclosure auction date

A sale date may appear in a notice of sale, newspaper advertisement, court record or auction posting after a judgment of foreclosure and sale. Dates can change, so an older listing should not be treated as current without verification.

Match the sale to the correct case

Verify the county, index number, case caption, property address, referee and sale location. Similar names or numbers can point to a different property.

Look for later activity

Adjournments, stays, orders, cancellations, bankruptcy notices, discontinuances or new sale notices may affect whether an earlier date remains valid.

Do not wait on an urgent date

A website review does not stop or postpone an auction. If a sale may be close, seek immediate guidance from a New York-licensed attorney and use official court information.

Information to gather

  • Judgment of foreclosure and sale
  • Notice of sale
  • Referee information
  • Date, time and location
  • Later filings affecting the sale
Important: Foreclosure Case Review provides general information and reviews available public records. It is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. A request does not create an attorney-client relationship, file a court response or pause any deadline. For an urgent deadline, auction or court appearance, contact a New York-licensed attorney promptly.
